LibroParlanti – Omaggio a Gianni Toti is an immersive multichannel sound installation conceived within the spaces of the Biblioteca Totiana, establishing a direct dialogue between space, memory, and language.
The work draws on and reworks archival sound materials from Gianni Toti’s audiovisual works, treating voice and sonic matter as generative elements of a layered listening experience. The installation is conceived as a hidden, mimetic intervention within the library: rather than conventional loudspeakers, the sound is emitted through resonant book-like objects, 3D-printed and concealed among the library shelves. Their presence remains visually integrated into the surrounding environment, allowing the sound sources to become almost indistinguishable from the books themselves.
Distributed across multiple points within the space, the sound creates a dramaturgical fabric that traverses the architecture of the library, transforming it into a field of resonances and echoes. Rather than unfolding as a linear narrative, the sound operates as a perceptual field in which fragments, overlaps, and discontinuities invite the audience to engage in an active and mobile form of listening.
