Mattia Loris Siboni (1996) is an Italian composer, musician, and sound artist based in Bologna (IT). Sound Design and Audio professor at LABA (Libera Accademia di Belle Arti) in Florence.
Passionate about the world of sound since he was a child, he began his musical studies with classical guitar. Then, pursuing his own musical research, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Music and a master’s degree in Sound Design at the Conservatory G.B. Martini in Bologna.
His interest is divided between acousmatic music composition and interpretation on multichannel systems and acousmonium, audiovisual or theatrical works sonorization and sound art. Fascinated by silence as a compositional parameter, he develops his own personal research trough soundscape and human interaction, respecting the sound objects and the space they occupy. He works with expectation, absence and surprise, investigating the threshold of musical perception and seeking evocative and extra-musical aspects.
He played for various music and audiovisual festivals in Italy and abroad (Canada, United Kingdom, France, Portugal, Austria, Slovenia), like Akousma, Beast FEasT, Cinema Ritrovato, Martini Elettrico, Tempo Reale Festival, AngelicA, MantovaJazz, Festival DME, Inner Spaces, Festival Futura, Echoes Around Me, Seeyousound International Music Film Festival and many others.
He’s active in the field of improvisation and live music in various formation as well as in solo. He is member of Minus – Collettivo and of the duo project Catopter with Giulio Stermieri. Mattia Loris Siboni is also co-founder and artistic director of Slowth Records, cultural association and record label dedicated to the promotion and support of experimental music.
